Naked Clay Ceramics is a collection of quiet minimal in style handmade ceramic tableware in Black stoneware and porcelain that celebrates the natural beauty and feel of unglazed clay in it’s fired state.
Inspired by the natural colours and textures of the earth, the collection includes drinking vessels, bowls and plates, all handmade by Carla Sealey in her Bedfordshire studio.
The insides are glazed but the outsides are sanded smooth before and after the first firing, resulting in a matt, velvet, bitter chocolate finish for the stoneware or a silky cream shimmer for the porcelain. The pieces are fired to a temperature that ensures they are vitrified and nonporous. At these high temperatures there is some natural movement of the clay in the kiln so that each piece is unique.
Simple to look at, lovely to hold, each item is one of a kind.
